Installation

•(Macintosh Only) When running an install from the console, silent installation will always fail if the config file (AdobeInstallerConfiguration.xml) can be opened Read/Write. After editing the config file, you should save it as a read-only file and it will perform as expected. (1150574)

•(Macintosh Only) Adobe has not tested installation of the Adobe Creative Suite on HFS+X formatted drives. Performance with this format is unknown and not supported.

•(Macintosh Only) When running the Adobe installer in silent mode there is no dialogue indicating if the installation was successful or not. As an alternative, the Network Administrator should be read the install logs and parse the string that indicates the install is complete and successful. (1149668)

•(Windows Only) When installing English or Japanese versions of Creative Suite 2 on Japanese systems, certain Japanese path names will display in English instead of Japanese; when selecting the area you wish to install to, the path file to the left of the "Browse" button will sometimes retain the English name. This does not affect installer accuracy.

•(Macintosh v. 10.2.8 only) When installing Creative Suite 2 onto a Mac OS X v. 10.2.8 system, you must install the Creative Suite onto the same hard drive that contains the OS. Installing on a drive that does not contain the operating system will yield an error message.

•(Windows Only) InDesign and Adobe Bridge will fail to launch when Creative Suite 2 is installed while keeping Office 2003 applications open. You will need to restart your machine to launch InDesign and Bridge.

•(Windows Only) After installation of the Creative Suite, it is possible to navigate to specific component folders of Version Cue, InDesign and Acrobat and uninstall by using the component sub-installer. This is not a recommended way to uninstall individual components of the Suite. Instead, you should utilize the full Creative Suite uninstaller to remove selected components. (1168337)

•(Macintosh Only) If you drag Creative Suite components to the Trash and try to re-install, those components will be disabled in the installer until you empty the Trash. (1159222)

•(Macintosh Only) It is recommended that you do not force quit while installing the Adobe Creative Suite. If you should, when you come back to install again, the installer may indicate that you already have some components installed and it will not allow you to install those components. To fix this, find the component folder on your hard drive, remove it to the Trash and empty it. The installer will now install these components as expected.

•(Windows Only) After performing a full uninstall on the Suite, it may be possible that several folders may still remain on your system. These folders will be located at: C:\Program Files\Adobe, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe, or C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe Systems Shared. These files may be removed manually provided you have already performed a full install. (1168472)

•(Windows and Macintosh) If you install Acrobat on a system that has multiple versions of Microsoft Office installed (for example, Office X and 2004), Convert To PDF icons appear only in the latest version. Solution: If you need to use PDFMaker with an older version of Microsoft Office, don't install a later version of Microsoft Office on that system.

•(Macintosh Only) Mac OS X v.10.3x and Safari 1.2.2 are required to use Acrobat 7.0 or view/interact with PDF files in a browser window.

•(Macintosh Only) If you run a virus check using Virex 7.2 with the latest DAT files on Mac OS X v.10.3.5, Acrobat or Distiller may return a crash error even if they're not currently running. No solution exists.

General Issues

•(Macintosh) Network volumes must be mounted in the Finder before they are available for browsing in the Adobe Dialog. When you are in the Adobe Dialog on a Macintosh, clicking on the Network icon will take you to the Finder where all the operating system network browsing capabilities are available for you. If you wish to do this browsing within the application you are using, first switch out of the Adobe Dialog using the "Use OS Dialog" button (1163247).

Portable Document Files (PDFs)

•(Windows only) Print presets will not show the correct names in Distiller when installed via the Creative Suite upon initial install. This issue is more pronounced in non-English versions. Distiller will show the correct names after you reboot your system. (1155483)

•(Windows only) It is possible for a second settings folder for PDF presets to be created during Creative Suite 2 or Acrobat 7.0 Pro product installation that contains different attributes than the primary settings folder. For all Suite components to see the same PDF presets, files MUST be placed in, or saved to the common directory (\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings) in order to be seen/shared by all Suite applications. (1103798)

•(Windows and Macintosh) Spot color drop shadows created in InDesign CS are dropped out instead of blended when exported to PDF 1.3 and printed from Acrobat 6 Professional. Workaround: Enable "Simulate Overprint" in the Advanced Print Set-up in Acrobat. (0592579)

Workflow Automation Scripts

•When invoking a script, if a user selects a mix of supported and unsupported files, the script will ignore unsupported files and the user will not be warned of this.

•Users can still continue to work within CS2 while the progress bar is running.

•Do not use the user script directory or the startup script directory as your development sandbox. If you drop in a new script and things start failing take the script out and fix it. Files in this directory will attempt to load at start up. If a load error occurs, all scripts alphabetically behind the failed script will fail to load and Adobe Bridge will hang or can take considerable (minutes) amount of time to finally load and display an error.

Adobe Bridge

•(Windows and Macintosh) Color Management status is not automatically updated in the Adobe Bridge Center. When changing global color settings, updates will not show up until you exit Adobe Bridge and re-enter. (1151491)

•(Windows and Macintosh) There is a limitation in Adobe Bridge where it does not recognize Photoshop EPS files and will try to open them using Adobe Illustrator. As an alternative, you can select the file in the Bridge File Browser and then go to File > Open With, and choose Adobe Photoshop. (1142784)

•(Windows and Macintosh) When using Adobe Version Cue and managed files, locally edited metadata on versioned files is not searched from within Adobe Bridge until you have saved a new version. This is as designed, but the behavior should be noted. (1122266)

•(Macintosh) When dragging/copying a file from Bridge to your local machine to a location where the same name file is located, the "replace" dialog does not come into focus and can be hidden. This action will return a warning, "An older item named 'filename' already exists in this location", but you may not see it because it is hidden behind another window. (1169284)

•(Windows) The Bridge crash dialog will appear if you attempt to quit Bridge as a limited user when getting an error dialog of "There was a problem updating database of <filename>. This will affect search results." (1175301)

Adobe InDesign

•(Macintosh) When dragging or pasting a multilayer PSD file from Photoshop into InDesign document the display has horizontal lines across the image in ID even with High Quality display. These lines will not appear on any printed doc or when exported to PDF. (1160800)

•(Macintosh) The Save button in the Adobe Dialog is enabled in InDesign CS2 when navigating read-only folders. Attempting to save a document when a read-only folder is selected as the target location returns the error, "Cannot save 'Untitled-1.indd' under a new name. The file 'DBTmp138921903179509' is damaged (Error code: 0)". Note that the original file itself is not actually damaged. You will need to select a different folder that is not read-only to save your file, however. Note that the Save button is disabled (greyed out) when navigating read-only folders via the OS Dialog from InDesign. (1159880)

•(Windows and Macintosh) When using the "

ackage for GoLive" function, we recommend that you do not use the following characters: * / : ; < " = > ? \ | # These characters will be are silently converted to underscores during Save and you will NOT get a warning dialog. (0633572)

•(Windows and Macintosh) When a custom, legacy PDF creation preset based on any default InDesign CS preset (except [eBook] and [Screen]) has both, "Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5)" selected in the Compatibility drop-down menu and the "Compress Text and Line Art" check box selected in the Compression pane, and then gets loaded into InDesign CS2 and converted to the joboptions format, the "Compress Text and Line Art" check box will become deselected. As a workaround, re-select this option after conversion. (1159539)

•(Windows and Macintosh) When exporting one page of a two page InDesign file managed by Version Cue CS2 as PDF, Adobe Bridge will display some thumbnails for the PDF as a spread and not as a single page. This inaccuracy will show up in thumbnail view and filmstrip view, but the Preview pane will show the document accurately. (1169387)

•(Windows and Macintosh) When you have two language versions of Adobe InDesign installed at one time some Adobe Bridge/Adobe InDesign integrations are disabled. Example: With InDesign English and Japanese installed on the same system, navigate to an image in Adobe Bridge and select File>

lace>In InDesign. The menu item will be disabled or non-existent. (1149271)

•(Macintosh and Windows) When you create an InDesign package that includes material (art, photo, text) that is placed in the InDesign file and which is named with "special" accented characters (such as found in European languages), the links to the material with the accented names will be broken if you open the package in InDesign on a computer running Windows. For Packages created on Windows with these characters and opened on a Macintosh the links are maintained as designed. As an alternative to this workflow, we recommend not using accented characters. (0656336)

Adobe Photoshop

•(Windows Only) You will be unable to drag/drop objects or text from InDesign to Photoshop. You will get a Photoshop error that it is not the right kind of document. As an alternative, you can copy and paste the item from InDesign into Photoshop. (1142074)

•Thumbnail Icons for .psd files - Photoshop CS2 does not provide thumbnail icons of .psd files through operating system folder windows. Please use the Adobe Bridge to view your .psd thumbnail files.

•Due to requirements when working with large file sizes, Photoshop is configured to use a high percentage of memory. If you use workflows that do not overly rely on the usage of Photoshop, you may see improved performance in other Suite applications if you reduce memory allocation in Photoshop.

Adobe Stock Photos

•(Windows and Macintosh) Adobe Stock Photos supports basic proxy servers if the server address and port have been configured via Internet settings in the OS. Adobe Stock Photos does not support proxy auto-configuration scripts (proxy.pac), or any type of authenticating proxy servers.

Adobe Version Cue

•(Windows and Macintosh) If you start to Save a Copy of an Illustrator file as a different format than what was opened and decide to cancel that operation, the display of document status in the lower left corner of the window will incorrectly change to "Deleted; Open". The file has not been deleted. To restore proper functioning, close the file and re-open it. If you have not saved your changes, do so before closing the file. (There is no problem if you complete the Save a Copy.) (1138669)

•(Windows and Macintosh) When using the Package for GoLive function in InDesign and saving to a Version Cue Workspace, you will not be able to import that Package from the project using GoLive until the Package itself has been synchronized and is available in the local working copies folder of the project. The reason is that In GoLive, the Import command is not able to directly browse a Version Cue Workspace. Once synchronized, however, you can choose the GoLive Import command and navigate to the working copies folder of the project on your own hard drive and open the package from there. To make sure the package has been synchronized, use InDesign's Open menu and navigate to the Version Cue project wherein the Package lies. Locate the Package folder, select that folder, and choose Synchronize from the Version Cue Tools menu. (0630492)

•(Macintosh) If you use Adobe Bridge to drag a folder from a Version Cue Project to your desktop outside the Bridge window, and that folder contains some files that are synchronized and some that have not, the action will only copy the synchronized files in the folder to your desktop. Additionally, you will not receive a warning that all the files have not been copied. However if you drag the folder to the Desktop favorite place in Bridge, the entire contents of the folder will be copied. If you wish to drag folders in Version Cue projects from within the Bridge window to outside the Bridge window directly, synchronize prior to this action for best results. (1169270)

•(Windows and Macintosh) When you add a file that has been locked in the file system to a Version Cue project, the lock is preserved on your local working copy. This will prevent you from editing or updating your local copy, but it will not prevent other workgroup users from editing or updating copies that they make. Eventually you may wish to retrieve a newer version created in the project by another user; before you can do this you will need to release the lock on your local working copy so that it can be updated. You can do this in the Finder/Explorer after choosing "Reveal in Finder/Explorer" from the context menu in the Bridge or Adobe Dialog.

•(Windows and Macintosh) In addition to the other illegal characters that Version Cue enforces against use in a folder name * / : ; < " = > ? \ |, also do not include a percent sign (%) in the name of a folder. In the event of a rare emergency that requires the use of the Export tab in the Version Cue CS2 system preferences, the files in a folder so named will not be exported.

•(Macintosh) On Mac OS X 10.2.8, if you do not install Version Cue in the default location suggested by the installer, the Version Cue Workspace will not be automatically turned on at the completion of the installation. To turn the workspace on, use the Version Cue menu (green leaf icon) in the Menu Bar. After this, Version Cue will automatically start up following a computer restart as designed.
