While Live Boolean is active, you can even sculpt on your models while previewing the Boolean results. The structure of your models will change as little as possible, with topology changes only taking place where the source models connect to each other. There are options to rotate relative to the surface normal or world axis and much more.

Generate a quick base mesh with ZSpheres and continue to push or pull the surface without having to worry about technical barriers and stretched polygons. Of course, if you prefer the original Adaptive Skin system for a specific model it can still be used.

Give any existing alpha a new look with the Alpha Streak mode. By applying random streaks to the alpha an artist can create a unique brush stroke that is similar in effect to motion blur. Alpha Streaks also gives any alpha that perfect “paintbrush” feel. 5 B! e) B& s0 P- j8 x1 X6 u

Adjust any alpha’s magnification with the pressure of your pen. Keep a constant alpha pattern with a light touch, but then add magnification to the alpha with stronger pressure. The reverse is also possible. This functionality allows you to create one alpha and vary the pattern along a surface with pen pressure, alone.

• Plug-in Updates
0 `0 T2 Y  p( I% i' ~- S+ v! d3D Print Exporter has been replaced with the new 3D Print Hub plug-in. This plug-in now gives any 3D printing enthusiast the capability to save and share those perfect export settings, or even export to FormLabs PreForm software with a single click. When updating export size, make sure it’s just right with a new Dimension Check window.

If you are looking for a computer optimized for ZBrush, these are the key elements to keep in mind:
# }; P$ @+ T: A) q, |- w- ZBrush runs the same on Macintosh and Windows. Choosing one or the other is a personal choice.
/ C% s1 }1 D6 }- ^9 z. J- A fast processor with multiple cores is a key item because ZBrush is only CPU based. The more powerful, the better.
: K3 t2 s; d1 }- You must have enough memory to handle the system and other background applications in addition to ZBrush itself. If your intent is to create complex models with many millions of polygons, aim for at least 16 GB of RAM and a 64-bit version of your OS.- h4 a) {- K- n$ I/ @2 b/ Z0 D$ v
- ZBrush is highly optimized and writes a large number of temporary files in order to ensure fast performance. Depending on your model, this can quickly reach several GB of data. An SSD drive for ZBrush and its virtual memory files will provide the best results. You can save costs by having an additional mechanical drive to save your work on.
2 n) z* I* W0 ^* Q- A Wacom (or compatible) pen tablet with a preference for professional models will provide you a better accuracy in your brush strokes and increase the artist feeling.
